This luxurious and gorgeous fabric for round obi is exquisitely woven with a “Shujiang” pattern using brightly colored threads, gold threads, and gold leaf. The Shujiang River flows near Chengdu, the capital of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period in China, and this region has long been known as a production center of high-quality silk fabrics.High-quality silk fabrics woven with advanced techniques using various colored yarns dyed with the pure water of the Shu River have been imported to Japan as “Shu brocade” or “Shujiang brocade” and have been highly prized. In particular, the pattern of connecting octagons and squares is called “Shokko => Shokko shell” as a representative design, which has been handed down to the present day. This “Marubachi ‘Saika Shokko’ is named after the Chinese character for ‘Kou’ (甲), which is a geometrical pattern consisting of a series of octagons and squares. 【3D design data rights holder’s name: KAWASHIMA SELKON TEXTILES CO.,LTD.
