Transforming station clock design into everyday products.

Description

In 2003, Takenobu Igarashi designed The Great Star Clock installed on the exterior wall of the south exit of JR Sapporo Station, and simultaneously designed the clocks installed in the station’s east–west concourses. These double-sided clocks feature dials divided into white on one side and black on the other to indicate orientation, while the numerals on the lower half are all oriented upright to ensure legibility when viewed from below. This design resource reinterprets the station clock as a table clock and a wristwatch, released in 2005. While preserving the refined dial design, the specifications were carefully adjusted to suit each use, including the use of different casing materials for the table clock and the wristwatch. The design has been produced and sold in various specifications over time, and a wall clock version is currently also available.
