Open Source Data Collection

Exploring unseen dimensions of design—through a 360° view.

This project digitally archives selected design resources using 3D scanning and high-resolution imaging technologies. The resulting data are made publicly available under a Creative Commons license, allowing anyone to freely access, study, and utilize them across a wide range of contexts, from education and research to creative production.

On the special website “Forms of Memory,” users can browse the collected 3D data directly in their web browser, rotating each object freely to view it from every angle, including perspectives rarely visible to the eye. By engaging with the details, traces of craftsmanship, and inventive spirit embedded in each work, visitors are invited to discover new pathways to creativity.

「DESIGN デザイン design」では、デザイン資源の3Dデータの活用を拡げるため、活動で得られたデータをクリエイティブ・コモンズ 表示 4.0 国際 ライセンス（CC-BY）に基づいて公開しています。
利用規約をご確認の上、下記からダウンロードしてください。
データを使った作品制作、研究、シミュレーション、資料作成等にぜひお役立てください。

OBJデータ
objファイルは3Dデータを扱うファイル形式の一種で、テクスチャ付きのポリゴンデータを扱う事ができます。
objファイルを手軽に閲覧できるフリーソフトとして、ここではMeshLabを紹介します。

MeshLabを起動し、ダウンロードした.objファイルをドラッグ&ドロップするとファイルを閲覧することができます。
.objファイルを複数選択してドラッグ&ドロップすると、複数のファイルを同時に開く事ができます。

本サイトで公開しているデータは、.objファイル、.mtlファイル、.jpgファイルで一組のデータになっています。
ファイル間でファイル名を参照しているため、3つのファイルはファイル名の変更はせず、同一のフォルダ内に配置してください。
下記は「天童木工 バタフライスツール」に含まれているファイルの一部です。
例) 天童木工 バタフライスツール 3Dデータのファイル名
butterfly_stool.obj、butterfly_stool.mtl、butterfly_stool.jpg
